The 1st Day

On this the first day of our 12 Days of Christmas, here's a friendly reminder that this is the one time of year when the acts of giving and receiving are officially sanctioned by the warm and fuzzy feeling that lingers in the air and just seems to trail behind us everywhere.

β„hristmas has always been my favourite time of year no doubt because it's a whole season when a conscious effort is made on the part of so many to make everything bright and more light. Even if the religious backing for the season doesn't resonate with you, there is just something about all the sparkling lights and the comraderie that's bound to spark moments of much needed good cheer.

On the 1st Day of Christmas, my wish for you is true
Do something for yourself you never ever thought you would do!

Maybe the cheerful decorations, the smiles on children's faces, the call to come together and all our carefree contributions should be an all year thing, but they are the stuff that create the heartwarming and joyous spirit of this season. Take it in. Consider practicing the universal "Golden Rule" (a.k.a. Ethics of Reciprocity) and spread your own message of Joy, Peace, Hope and Love!

The Gift of Music

Mind if I share the gift that I give to myself at about this time of the year (and sometimes I start in the months before)?

The Little Drummer Boy

My mother's special gift to me

Over the many moons that I have chanced to see in this life, no matter where I am or whatever the day, whenever I hear the opening notes of The Little Drummer Boy , I smile. My mother's favourite Christmas carol is about a child born into poverty who was not afraid to share what he had been given -- his little drum and the powerful gift of music. I smile -- and I still do-- because this song brings home the joy of having spent so many years in the company of an amazingly remarkable lady who was born into poverty and was never ever afraid to share all the wonderful talents and gifts that she had been given. What really blows me away is that this sharing and caring was very low-key and always transpired in a most humble way.
