Updates, events, and information of interest to the Hollis, Jamaica, and surrounding Queens communities — shared in the spirit of awareness and connection.

Many of us still remember America’s Bicentennial in 1976 — the Tall Ships, fireworks, parades, and the excitement of marking the nation’s 200th birthday. Now, fifty years later, America 250 offers another rare opportunity to witness history in the making and create memories that future generations may one day look back upon.

Staying informed about changes in our community is more important than ever. Below are two opportunities to learn, engage, and gain deeper perspective on developments affecting Jamaica, Hollis, and nearby neighborhoods.

Grace Episcopal Church in Jamaica, Queens will open its doors to the public on Saturday, May 16, 2026 as part of the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s annual Sacred Sites Open House program.

Centered around this year’s theme, “Holding Community Memories,” the event will explore the church’s role in colonial Jamaica, the American Revolution, and the evolving story of Southeast Queens.
