During the First Quarter Moon, exactly half of the Moon's face is lit from our perspective on Earth. The Moon rises around noon and sets around midnight. Gravitational forces from the Sun and Moon act at right angles to each other, producing moderate neap tides. In many lunar traditions this phase represents decisive action — the seed planted at the New Moon is now pushing through the soil.
